What Offmodel is
Offmodel Personal is a local-first macOS control layer for supported AI-assisted project work.
AI can propose work; the person decides what becomes current project state. Imported AI work remains a candidate until it is reviewed and accepted through a supported Offmodel workflow.
The local project remains the durable source of reviewed project state. Offmodel does not automatically upload that project to an AI or govern arbitrary writes made by external AI tools. Text manually pasted into an external AI service leaves the computer and is governed by that service.
Why this is more than folder access
Markdown keeps content readable and portable. A folder alone does not distinguish current content from an AI proposal, check whether the proposal was based on current content, or record review and acceptance.
For supported project documents, Offmodel adds project identity, revision and base-content checks, current-versus-proposed review, explicit acceptance, stale-state blocking, atomic application and a project receipt.
Supported Workbench document workflow
- Select an existing project-relative UTF-8 Markdown document within the supported 2 MiB limit.
- Copy or export selected content to an external AI.
- Import the returned work as a candidate.
- Compare current and proposed content, then accept or reject the proposal.
- Before writing an accepted proposal, Offmodel checks the base content and project revision again.
- A supported accepted change is written atomically, advances project state and leaves a receipt.
Separate Window Switch handoff
Window Switch prepares a bounded handoff for another AI session. The project-side read-only verifier exposes and checks the project identity, revision, checkpoint, current objective and exact next action. “Verification received” opens a separate acknowledgement plan. A person must still review and select “Confirm Changes” before project state changes.

Existing users can choose “Check for Updates…” in Offmodel, or install Offmodel 27.1 over the existing app. If an existing user already purchased Offmodel, the same licence remains valid on that Mac, so a repeat purchase is not required.
